Description

Made in the central Anatolian town of Sivas for European commercial exporters in the 19th century, Sivas rugs were re-imaginations of classical Persian patterns. This highly decorative, exquisite Sivas is a fine example that boasts an elegant, impeccably detailed Persian medallion and all over-floral design. An elegant floral medallion in very soft, pastel apricot anchors the centre flanked by stylized motifs of cypress trees on all four sides evoking a formal garden. The sense of formality is continued throughout the carpet by four more medallions in smaller size with more ethereal outlines in much lighter apricot symmetrically placed along the same axis as the cypress trees. The rest of the space in the field is adorned with an abundance of very fine floral and vine motifs in flowing motion in perfect harmony with each other.

This is a carpet woven with exquisite mastery in extremely fine detail to create utmost visual pleasure and high decorative appeal. Its soft palette of colors is executed in such perfect fashion to provide an elegant display of light and shade. The light flows and shimmers through its soothing, warm, gold background bringing alive its beautifully detailed floral pattern while the more saturated dark rust hue dominating the multiple border soaks the light and glows. A superb piece of craftsmanship with a subdued palette and understated beauty that will bring a wonderful touch of distinction and elegance to any interior.
